‘Yes’ campaign welcomes support of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)

Yes23 warmly welcomes the support today of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) for a Yes vote in this year’s referendum on Indigenous constitutional recognition through a Voice to Parliament.

The RACGP joins an ever-growing movement of people, communities and organisations backing a Voice to Parliament. Over 25 health organisations around Australia support the Yes vote including The Australian College of Nursing, The Australian Indigenous Doctors Association and The Australian Medical Association.

Yes23 Campaign Director Dean Parkin welcomed the support from the College and affirmed appreciation for the College's continued advocacy for changes that will lead to improved Indigenous health outcomes.

"We are humbled by the ongoing support for our positive movement across the country. The RACGP joins over 500 other organisations that represent the spectrum of our diverse nation and are bringing Australians from all walks of life together," Mr Parkin said.

“We acknowledge the College's statement that a Voice will help drive changes to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and address inequalities in our health system.

“Their support for the Yes vote is an acknowledgement that better outcomes can be achieved for Indigenous people when they have a say and are directly involved in the development of policies that affect them."
